Call Timers

These are your Business opening hours, so if you are open for business, your VoIP Phone(s) will ring, and if you are closed, then any incoming calls will go directly to your Voicemail for you to pick up at your convenience.

Let us know your Business opening hours, and we can set these up for you. We will need an out-of-hours call greeting to play, see below.

Call Greetings

These can give a more professional or friendly edge to your business, depending on your wording and how you want them to sound. These can be 2 versions, or just 1 version if you don’t want any “Call Timers” set up.

You may have different business locations, 1 number for the same Restaurant chain, but multiple venues to eat.

You may have different departments such as Sales, Support or Accounts, etc.

Thank you for calling MIH VoIP, please press 1 for Sales, 2 for Support or 3 for Accounts.

Your messages, your way

The Auto Attendant, Voicemail and Call Greetings can say anything you like. Send us a script, and we can create it using our text-to-speech tool—but we recommend a real human voice.

If you have an audio file, you can send it via WhatsApp.

If not, record one with your phone’s sound recorder or WhatsApp voice note. Many customers send multiple versions while practising; we’ll either use the last one or the one you choose. Send as many as you like—we want you to be happy with your message.

Our business WhatsApp Number is on our contact page.

We can enable call recording for your account, accessible via any web browser. This is useful if you need to revisit a conversation. Please ensure to let us know if you want us to enable this feature.

FAQs About the Benefits of VoIP

Answers to the most common questions about the benefits of VoIP, the 2027 landline switch-off, and how MIH VoIP can help you make the move to digital voice.

What are the main benefits of switching to VoIP?

The main benefits of VoIP include lower call costs, HD call quality, multi-device access, and the ability to keep your landline number. It also prepares you for the 2027 UK landline switch-off.

Will my current landline number work on VoIP?

Yes. MIH VoIP can transfer (port) your existing number so you can keep using it on your new digital phone service.

Does VoIP work during the UK 2027 landline switch-off?

Yes. VoIP is the replacement technology for the PSTN copper network and will continue to work after traditional landlines are retired.

Do I need new equipment to use VoIP?

Not always. You can use your existing landline handset with a VoIP Adapter, use the MIH VoIP App on a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer, or we can supply VoIP handsets if required.

Is VoIP cheaper than a traditional landline?

Yes. VoIP removes copper line rental and offers lower call charges, making it significantly cheaper than traditional landline services for most households and businesses.

Can VoIP work anywhere in the UK or overseas?

Yes. With an internet connection, you can make and receive calls from anywhere — including abroad — while paying UK call rates when using the MIH VoIP App.

Is VoIP reliable for home and business use?

VoIP delivers excellent reliability and HD call quality when used over a stable broadband or fibre connection, making it suitable for both homes and businesses.

Will my alarm, careline, or medical device work with VoIP?

Some analogue devices may not work on VoIP. MIH VoIP recommends speaking to your current provider about upgrading to a system that connects directly to an internet connection to help keep you safe.

What happens to my phone service during a power cut?

VoIP adapters and handsets require power to operate. MIH VoIP offers the VoIP App to use on a mobile phone during power cuts. Our advice is to use a battery backup solution if your premises or area suffers from frequent power outages.

Yes. You can have unlimited simultaneous calls, multiple devices, and flexible extensions to suit your needs.

Is VoIP secure?

What internet speed do I need for VoIP?

Most homes need only a basic broadband or fibre connection. A single VoIP call uses very little bandwidth — usually far less than streaming video.

How long does it take to switch to VoIP?

Activation is usually quick. Number porting typically takes around 10 business days.

Can businesses benefit from VoIP?

Absolutely. Businesses gain features like call queues, auto-attendants, call recording, analytics, and remote worker support — without expensive on-site phone systems.

Does VoIP improve call quality?

Yes. VoIP supports high-definition audio that is often clearer and more consistent than traditional copper landline calls.

Can I block nuisance calls with VoIP?

Yes. MIH VoIP includes call blocking features so you can quickly stop nuisance or unwanted callers from contacting you again.

Can I move home and keep my VoIP number?
