Any Questions?

Yes, as long as the Landline Telephone number is live and working.

It typically takes 7 Business days for a Number to port, but can take up to 21 days on rare occasions due to setbacks, delays and problems, we appreciate it can be a pain but we like to set expectations properly.

We keep our customers updated of the expected date the Port is due to take place and again on the day to say the Port has taken place.

There is no extra charge to port a landline across, it is covered in the £20 set up fee.

Nobody likes change unless we are ready and eager for it, or understand the benefits of it. Let’s face it, The Big Switch Off is not of much benefit to many homes, many see it as more of a nuisance.

So let’s keep things familiar and easy for you.

You can use your existing landline handsets connected to a “VoIP Adapter” provided by us.

The “VoIP Adapter” simply plugs into the router, main power and then the Handset plugs into the Adapter once the number has ported across. All cables are included.

Yes, all Routers are the same in terms of connectivity, it just needs to be a live and working ethernet socket.

No, think of making or receiving a call by our VoIP service being similar to sending and receiving emails.

A VoIP service is just ‘data’ being carried by your broadband connection, just like having Netflix or Disney+ etc, it’s nothing to do with your internet service other than the fact it runs over it.

It does not change your internet package nor notify your provider.

Yes, you can have a selection of new numbers and geographical area to choose from and take out a VoIP service with us straight away. This can be live and working via the VoIP App on your mobile phone within 24 hours.

It should be stated on the bill if there is a “Digital Voice” or “VoIP” service.

Alternatively check to see how the Landline Handset is connected:

1 – If it is plugged into a telephone socket on the wall then it is a traditional copper telephone line number (FTTC). We can Port that Number to our VoIP platform.

2 – If it is plugged into the router then it is a “Digital Voice” (VoIP Phone), we can Port that Number to our VoIP platform.

3 – If the Handsets are not plugged into anything, just the mains, then it is likely a WiFi phone by BT and is a “Digital Voice” (VoIP Phone), we can Port that Number to our VoIP platform.

1st step – Is to have the FTTP Broadband connection installed, live and working. We recommend to place your order with us ahead of this date so we can move on to step 2 very quickly.

Note 1 – It is imperative your current service with your provider is NOT cancelled.
Note 2 – It is also imperative the Installation engineer does NOT remove nor disturb your existing landline.

2nd step – Once you are happy the FTTP Broadband is working as it should, we will request your permission to proceed to Port your Landline Telephone Number to our VoIP service. We request your permission because when a landline telephone number is Ported away from an FTTC connection, the existing telephone line cease working, therefore ceasing the Broadband service too.

There will be some overlap of Broadband service but we want to avoid the customer having no broadband access if the FTTP install is delayed or there are any faults on setup. We take guidance from the customer on what they would like to do.

Our VoIP service works with ANY broadband provider.

We recommend to place your order with us so we can port your landline number to our VoIP Service before you change broadband providers.

This way you are never without your Landline number and it is then independant of your broadband provider as well.

Giving you more freedom in future.

A couple of solutions:

1 – If the Landline Telephone Number in question is of importance, you could (and we don’t recommend this due to costs) request another Line and Broadband connection to be installed. When that 2nd Telephone line and broadband is installed, up live and working then we can then Port the desired Landline Telephone Number from the 1st line to our VoIP service. When a landline telephone number is Ported away from an FTTC connection, the existing telephone line will go dead, therefore ceasing the Broadband service too. This then cancels the 1st line altogether. This is expensive and a lot of inconvenience. We would suggest to consider 2 factors, How important is that particular Landline Number and can it be replaced with a new number (Option 3 below).

2 – Leave things as they are and when FTTP comes available in your area then take action (see next question for that process).

3 – If the existing Landline number is not overly used/promoted/known and FTTP is not available to you yet/at all (possible for remote areas of the UK), then you could get a new number provided by us (we can give you selection of numbers to choose from, and various different geographical areas you can select) and then start to promote that number. There is no extra charge for a new number.

Yes, we recommend downloaded “VIP VoIP Companion” from the App Store on your Google or Apple device. Once your account is set up, and Landline Number live with us, you can simply login and use it.

The VoIP App can be used on Android/Apple Mobile Phones, Android Tablets, Apple Macbooks, iPads & iMacs.

The VoIP App works interantionally as long as you are connected to WiFi or have Data Access. Check your Data charges before using any data services beyond your inclusive package.

Yes, you can use our special VoIP Software to install on your computer or laptop and providing you have a Mic and Speakers then you are good to chat.

Yes, this can be done via VoIP Software mentioned above or a VoIP specific phone. This works even if you use it abroad if you take your laptop away with you.

It can NOT be done using a traditional analogue Landline phone with a VoIP Adapter.

Yes we do, check out our Businesses page to learn more.
