You may have heard the term but what actually is VoIP?
VoIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol, which basically means telephone calls are routed through an internet connection.
But, in many respects, it is a ‘Digital Phone’.
It is intended, that by January 2027, the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) will be switched off across the United Kingdom, ushering in a new era of telecoms. Digital services will take its place, namely Internet Protocol (IP) or Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP). These are phone systems through which users can make calls via broadband or mobile data.
